Satisfaction with Life Index

In GreenRhet the $10,000 figure that McKibben proposes was fairly contentious. If I recall correctly the argument was that by using a number to quantify happiness he's doing what his ideological opponents do. In any case I did a little poking around to check out the numbers and I found this picture on the wiki page for "Satisfaction with Life Index". regardless of the trustworthyness of such an image, it's interesting to me to see this kind of a breakdown.

  1. What do the grey countries mean? Without emotion? Happy indexes (that do not operationalize "happiness") make me sad.
